Go North East iPhone App

Komodo have worked with Go North East for a while across a range of projects and media and so we were particularly excited when appointed us to design and develop a mobile application for them.

‘The Key Mobile’ app’s development plan included building specific native applications for the iOS (iPhone) and Android platforms as well as a web application that provides access to the applications features across a broader range of devices.

FIrst we thought long and hard about the audience, their needs and what they would want from a mobile app that helped make the daily commute or a day trip with the family easier and, in close consultation with the team at Go North East, worked out a winning brief.

The iPhone, Android and web application delivers timetable information for all routes that Go North East operate. The bus timetable information is readily accessible via the carefully crafted user interface and users can search for routes and timetable information by location, postcode, bus stop code or by current location via the phones onboard GPS (if it has it).

It will also provide directions to the nearest bus stop that your route passes through which is, well - useful.

Users can save their ‘favourite’ routes within the app allowing for ready access to relevant timetable information when they need it.

Information about ticketing options is provided within the application allowing users to explore the different choices available to them and identifying the right one for the way that they use the Go North East bus network.

An integrated news feed provides live updates in real time about the users journey. So, if there is a problem, such as roadworks on a route, Go North East can notify the passenger via the mobile application of developments in real time.

The app development team here at Komodo Digital worked hard to ensure that the application was streamlined and focused on delivering a powerful feature set that delivers real value to the user.

The Key Mobile application provides an easy to use and convenient source of bus network information for bus passengers on the go.
