Scratch Bikes

ScratchBikes is a self service bicycle project in Newcastle which started out as a small scheme for students. Its recent expansion has seen a number of bicycles and pick up points popping up around the city offering the general public a short term bicycle renting service for a competitive price. Komodo have been working closely with Scratch Bikes to develop an app that would simplify the process of renting and returning a bicycle.

The Scratch Bikes app is perfect for individuals on the move looking for a quick and cost effective way to get around Newcastle. It allows users to view a number of pick up points around them searching by postcode or current location via GPS. Each location shows the number of bikes available with easy to use directions. Once selected, a text is sent to Scratch Bikes followed by a reply with the Unlock Code. The user is then free to roam the city for two hours before re-locking the bike at any one of the number of bike racks.
