Beamish Website WordPress Development
Improving user experience with thoughtful design and a tailored checkout process, integrated with Magento.
Beamish began as the vision of Dr Frank Atkinson, today it is one of the best Open Air Museums in the World!
Komodo were selected from a competitive tender process, to deliver on the next phase of Beamish’s digital vision.
You’d be forgiven for thinking the Beamish team spend most of their time and energy on their uncanny ability to bring the past to life.
Although the attraction itself is a local treasure for the North East, our interest in working with Beamish came from an alignment in business vision. When we read an interview with Beamish Director, Richard Evans, we knew we were working with a client with ambitious goals and a straightforward and honest vision for the business.
“We need money to run Beamish but we’re not motivated by money.” “Our motivation is more about securing the long term future of Beamish through focusing on visitors.” – Richard Evans
The Beamish team selected Komodo to help deliver on their vision for the future of the Living Museum in a digitally progressive society. As with any project, we start by exploring a client’s business and process in order to understand the best approach for our involvement.
Our focus for the design and development of the new website was to deliver;
- Improvements in content discovery and engagement.
- A responsive design for both WordPress and Magento.
- A Streamlined purchase process for event and venue tickets.
Since the relaunch, the website has welcomed higher YoY visitor numbers, increased page views and improved conversion through the improved purchase experience.
Although this was a substantial project with several client stakeholders, we delivered the project to the original budget.
Komodo continues to support the Beamish Museum team on an on-going basis through our AfterCare programme.
