ThingCo, a start-up led by telematics veterans and the minds behind the successful exit of Insure The Box, conceived Theo – a smart 4G-ready in-car tracking device. Theo aimed to revolutionise the driving experience, integrating with cutting-edge Amazon infrastructure to function as an intelligent dashboard camera, monitoring user driving data. The challenge was twofold: create a consumer-facing app that effectively engages users while enabling insurers to adjust premiums and drivers to optimise their driving performance.
Rapid MVP Launch
Theo was successfully launched as an MVP in just six months, allowing ThingCo to secure vital investments and acquire new customers.

The app empowered users to monitor their driving behaviour, report accidents in real-time, and access immediate support – a feature widely adopted and valued by users.
Investment Leading to Growth
The project attracted £3 million in investment from Comparethemarket through BGL (Holdings) group. Moreover, ThingCo experienced a 20% growth in their internal team size, showcasing the project's impact on their overall expansion.
