Tuesday last week held one of the most innovative business events in our region. With a record number of delegates, Venturefest North East delivered an exemplary set of talks, workshops, and experts, primed and ready to help bring people together and create new business opportunities.

Organised by the Innovation SuperNetwork, the conference took place at Newcastle’s St James’ Park. A venue which suited the event well, given the 1,000 registered delegates this year. Komodo were lucky enough to be invited along to showcase our own latest innovation, Overwatch.

As we announced in late October, the drone platform was picked as one of a select few cutting-edge North East businesses and products to present as part of the event’s Innovation Showcase. Following a particularly early morning start (and an IV of Starbucks coffee) we grabbed an Uber and headed up to St James’ Park to get set up.

We’re no strangers to the fact that drones hold a special allure for spectators at these kinds of events. Something about them brings more interest and conversations over to your stand than anything else we’ve witnessed. We believe this acts as a testament to the ever-growing popularity of drones and drone technology. Yes, some of the conversations may have surrounded the topical news that drones are have been used to drop drugs into prisons. However, on the whole, we had some genuine and insightful talks with individuals and businesses interested in Overwatch and it’s ability to securely and efficiently capture aerial data.

It’s a wrap! Great day spent at @VenturefestNE, some really interesting conversations and new contacts made. Thanks to all involved ??

Continuing on from the interest we received during our first public outing with Overwatch, our next steps are to create a video presentation tool that can be used as a demo for the platform when a real-time demo isn’t an option. Our thanks and congratulations go out to the Venturefest North East organisers and to everyone involved, for carrying out a successful and enjoyable day of innovating and networking.
