Here at KOMODO, we have been busy developing and perfecting an innovative new platform, one that promises to have a considerable impact on the effectiveness of drones in capturing real-time data.

For anyone who hasn’t heard about it from us yet, the platform is called Overwatch, and it has been created with the aim of helping operators to carry out cost-effective data capture missions.

Using the latest drone technology, an aerial view often provides the clearest picture of a scene. Overwatch captures this view and translates it into data that can be quickly analysed, shared and responded to. This ability can be a crucial time and life-saving tool for various sectors, from fire services and law enforcement, right through to the military.

We’ve built in several key features, such as secure end-to-end encryption of live video broadcast and data syncing along with the ability to create custom and pre-loaded missions for the drone, or multiple drones, to complete safely and autonomously. What’s more, using Overwatch allows the images and data captured by the missions to be shared and implemented across teams on the ground almost instantaneously.

Venturefest North East 2016

We’re especially proud parents this week, as it has been announced that Overwatch will be one of a select few cutting-edge North East businesses presenting at Venturefest North East 2016 in November. The spot comes as part of their Innovation Showcase programme, being held in partnership with the innovation experts over at the North East BIC. Under the programme, businesses get the opportunity to showcase their ideas “to an audience of 700 business people and investors” during the course of the event, which takes place on Tuesday 8th.

Held at St James’ Park, the conference will also be offering up inspirational speakers, interactive workshops and a chance to discuss innovation with the experts. With ample networking opportunities and a heavy dose of highlighting the region’s rich culture of entrepreneurship and innovation, the day promises to be a good one.

For those interested in learning more about Overwatch, Venturefest and the Innovation Showcase, Business Quarter (BQ) are releasing features of the businesses showcasing for your reading pleasure. You can head over and read ours here, as well as getting your Overwatch fix on the new website.
