DIBI has been running since 2009. Over that time more than 300 speakers have taken the stage and thousands of delegates have come through the doors. Komodo took the conference on in early 2022, and it arrived with a real legacy but a brand that hadn’t caught up with what DIBI had become: a conference for product people, the designers, product managers and founders building software, and for the curious, hands-on way they work.
We set out to build an identity that could do three things at once. Present DIBI as the established, credible event it is. Speak to that audience with warmth and playfulness. And stretch, from the website to the signage to the pop-up events we’re taking to new cities, without ever losing itself. The one fixed point was the logo. Everything around it was ours to rebuild.

The idea underneath the brand is building blocks. A set of handcrafted, textured shapes that pull together and play off one another, the way product people take parts and assemble something new. The palette is bold and punchy, the typeface characterful but easy to read. Together they carry the curiosity and experimentation that runs through good product work.
We designed it in-house, by the team that runs the conference. That is the difference. We know this audience because we spend two days a year in the room with them, and every choice, from the shapes and the colour to the motion and the redesigned website they live on, was made by people invested in getting DIBI right.
Really enjoyed the conference and chatting with the attendees. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for what you do next in Edinburgh.

One brand, every surface
A brand like this only earns its keep if it holds up everywhere the event shows up. DIBI’s does. It runs from the website and the delegate badges to the floor stickers, the splash screens between talks, the social artwork and the YouTube sizzle reels.
It was also built to move. As we take DIBI to smaller pop-up events in other cities, the same system stretches to fit without ever stopping looking like DIBI.
Every format
One system across the website, signage, delegate badges, garments, big-screen graphics, social and motion. It holds together wherever DIBI appears.
Built to travel
Extensible by design, so it carries to the pop-up events we're taking to new cities without losing what makes DIBI recognisable.
Momentum
Recent years have brought around 30% year-on-year audience growth, rising speaker applications, and a LinkedIn following built from scratch to over 750.

DIBI grew out of the same thing Komodo is built on: a fascination with where design meets build. Running it lets us lead that conversation, bring people from all over the world onto the stage, and spend two days with the designers and builders doing the work. That’s the part I look forward to most.
